As eCity’s newest Director of Client Services, Kate is always taking names and making deals. She’s logged a decade in higher education work, so it’s safe to say, she fits right in with our team and clients. And, with her tenacity and creativity, she is always keeping us on track and on our toes. Welcome aboard, Kate!
What is your daily routine at eCity?
The wonderful and not so wonderful thing about agency life is that every single day looks different, however, there are some things that can be counted on every day. I’ll start every morning with a cup (or 3) of coffee while creating my to-do list for the day and checking emails. Next I’ll check in with the team to see how projects are moving along. The rest of each day typically varies! Client check-ins, internal meetings, finding new ways to support client goals, and even playing with fruit!
Describe your resume at a glance.
I spent 10 years spent doing admissions and recruitment work within higher ed at both private institutions and large state schools. I had the awesome opportunity to work with undergraduate and graduate prospective students and help them navigate one of the most stressful experiences in life; figuring out which school or program will help them reach their future goals!
If you had a week off, you’d spend it…
Traveling! I love the experience of exploring new places, eating new cuisines, and meeting the people who live there. Last year I went to Albania and up-next is Mexico!
Give me a pearl of wisdom related to what you do.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Agency work can be chaotic and it can be easy to beat yourself up if a project deliverable is wrong or a deadline is missed. It’s important to keep your focus on the long-term goal. Is the client happy? Is your work helping the client meet their goals? If so, the small stuff is just that – small stuff.
Why did you want to join eCity?
I’m passionate about higher education and during my time working in that space, I gained a deep understanding of the pain points that many of our higher ed clients are feeling during this time of seismic shifts in the industry. Coming over to the agency side allows me to take my experience and insights and help a wider variety of institutions adapt and evolve during these times of change.
What has been the highlight of your time here thus far?
Two things stand out to me. The first is the level of collaboration (and know-how) in the room. This team is always willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. The second is the variety of work. Although I’m on the Account Management team, I get to play a part in research, marketing initiatives, and even creative!
And oh yea, we eat A LOT of donuts.
Who or what do you draw inspiration from?
The people I work with! I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with talented and passionate people throughout my career, and even luckier to find some wonderful mentors. Both in my former life in higher ed and now here at eCity, working alongside these people has been inspiring and life changing.
What is your favorite TV show?
Parks and Rec- “Sometimes you gotta work a little, so you can ball a lot”
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I think the ability to time travel would lead to some pretty cool adventures!
The best restaurant in Philadelphia is…
There’s too many great restaurants to choose from! I actually have a spreadsheet dedicated to all the amazing restaurants I want to try. If I had to choose though, I can’t stop thinking about the edamame dumplings at Buddakan.
