Angela Sanders came on board as Content Marketing Associate in July and dove right into creating memorable content for eCity and our clients. Angela’s background in journalism and infectiously optimistic attitude quickly established her as an asset to our marketing team and the company as a whole. When she’s not busy writing, you can usually find her hanging out with friends, learning about design, or enjoying a good book. We recently caught up with Angela to find out what drives her and how she’s enjoying life at eCity so far. Welcome aboard, Angela!
What is your daily routine at eCity?
I arrive at eCity, fix my iced coffee, and get right to work. While every day is a little bit different, I always begin each morning by checking all channels like Gmail, Slack, Google calendar, and Trello to see what the day has in store. Next, I do some community management for one of our clients on social media.
The rest of the day includes researching best practices, writing crisp content, copyediting, and meeting deadlines. (Coming from a journalism background, I love deadlines!) With production meetings and weekly one-on-ones sprinkled into the mix, I get to assist with eCity’s content marketing and enjoy the company of the lovely and very funny eCity team.
“I wanted to join eCity because I love fast-paced, innovative, and creative agency type settings. Each day is new and different, and I’m always learning.”
Describe your resume at a glance.
I would describe my resume as fun yet focused. One of my favorite seasons in life was when I worked as a social media and marketing intern for an international creative agency in Florence, Italy. In the evenings, I lived with a Sienese and Sicilian family outside of the city’s center as their au pair and English tutor in exchange for a roof over my head and meals. It was an unbelievable summer.
Give me a pearl of wisdom related to what you do.
I would say—and this relates to any profession—take every thought captive and look for the peace and joy in each new day. It’s simple, but it’s especially important for writers.
Why did you want to join eCity?
I wanted to join eCity because I love fast-paced, innovative, and creative agency type settings. Each day is new and different, and I’m always learning. So, the fact that eCity promised all of this plus their team was just a genuine joy to speak with, I was so delighted by the invitation to join the team and excited at the opportunity to learn from their expertise.
Who or what do you draw inspiration from?
I draw inspiration from my relationship with Jesus Christ, who is Beauty, Goodness, and Truth, and from the Holy Spirit who dwells within my heart. I am a creative because God first created me in His own image and likeness. Flowing from my identity as His daughter, I love learning from the Catholic Creatives podcast, which features insights from an amazing community of co-creators answering the call for a New Renaissance.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I would definitely freeze time. During the frozen time, I would be super productive and accomplish all of my goals. Then, when I unfreeze it, I’d spend it being with the people I love, seeing more of the world, and just generally enjoying life’s adventures.
What has been the highlight of your time here thus far?
Oh, so many moments! I love being part of the team and working on a variety of different projects. Also, Steven 2.0 orchestrated a beautiful first day for me including the eCity team taking me out to lunch and giving me a welcome card filled with kind messages. It was a really sweet gesture. Another day, Steve 1.0 surprised us all with a box of amazing gourmet donuts! It’s the littlest things sometimes, but I do think it points toward the rest of the company culture, which I really appreciate.
The best restaurant in Philadelphia is…
I love Dizengoff on Sansom Street. It’s an Israeli hummusiya. The people who work there are so kind, their community seating is lovely, and the pita and frozen mint lemonade are amazing. You must go!
